This brand new small, empty condo overlooking the West Hills of Portland was the “get-away” in the city for my clients. The challenge was to furnish the condo in such a way that someone walking in would say “Wow, that’s beautiful!” Like many couples, they had differing preferences, but their shared desire was to create a modern, stylish, “cool” space – “Artistic” in a word! Finding inspiration in a Japanese picture series owned by the client, a color palette was developed which transformed the “so-so” existing wall color into a soft and subtle background further enhancing the depth, richness, color, and beauty of additional artwork. Furniture pieces are unusual, artistic, and functional providing a place for everything – house keys are now dropped off and picked up from their “spot.” The use of soft textures and rich colors in the upholstery fabrics and area rug adds vibrancy to the living area and the use of coordinating fabrics in the hallway and bedroom areas unites the condo as a whole. The handmade glass ceiling fixture combined with the wavy monorail light system and wall pendants illuminate a stunning pathway into the condo. Walking through a gallery of artwork, furniture pieces and sculptural accessories, leads to the tranquil and beautiful main living area with an unobstructed view of the West Hills of Portland. Wow!
